TABLE MOUNTAIN
Table Mountain is a flat-topped mountain forming a prominent landmark overlooking the city of Cape Town in South Africa. It is a significant tourist attraction, with many visitors using the cableway or hiking to the top. Often photographed covered in a blanket of clouds which contrast against a backdrop of clear blue skies its presence is always spectacular. Cape Town locals are understandably proud of this iconic mountain that looms over their city, which also plays host some of the richest, yet smallest floral kingdom on earth and was voted one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in 2011. Legend has it that the tablecloth of clouds that transcends over the mountain when the south eastern winds blow is the result of a smoking contest between the devil and a retired sea captain called Jan van Hunks. If you choose not to walk to the summit, then due to its popularity Pre booking the cable car is essential.
