HIGH STREET
High Street at 828 meters is a fell in the English Lake District, Cumbria with its summit being the highest point in the far eastern part of the National Park. The fell is named after the 2000 year old Roman road which runs over the summit to link the Roman Empires forts at Broughton near Penrith and Ambleside. For the observant walker curb stones and some metal working can be stills seen today. The views from its level plateau are well worth the reward stretching from the Pennines in the east to the arc of the Lakeland fells filling the western horizon with the Helvellyn range and Southern Fells are particularly striking.
