HELVELLYN
Helvellyn at 950m is a mountain in the English Lake District National Park, Cumria, Engalnd, the highest point of the Helvellyn range, a north-south line of mountains to the north of Ambleside, between the lakes of Thirlmere and Ullswater. By far the most exciting route to the summit is from the village of Glenridding via Striding Edge and Swirrel Edge which is a hands on scramble over a ridge with a precipitous knife edge. Along the Striding Edge route the walker will encounter a significant rock cluster known as The Chimney which calls for a degree of calm, confidence and nerve.
