GREAT GABLE-WAINWRIGHT COLLECTION
A Wainwright is the summit of what Alfred Wainwright (1907-1991) thought were true Cumbrian fell tops. There are a total of 214 ‘Wainwrights’ which have over the years become a very popular pastime for all the many Wainwright Baggers.
Great Gable at 899M lies at the very heart of the English Lake District appearing as a pyramid shape when viewed from Wasdale but from most other directions appears as a dome. Many seasoned walkers consider Great Gable as one of the best mountains and is possibly the most painted and photographed of all the Lake District mountains. The stunning panorama of views from the top are breathtaking and the walker is treated to one of the best available views of the Lake District
