ESK PIKE-WAINWRIGHT COLLECTION

A Wainwright is the summit of what Alfred Wainwright (1907-1991) thought were true Cumbrian fell tops. There are a total of 214 ‘Wainwrights’ which have over the years become a very popular pastime for all the many Wainwright Baggers.

Esk Pike 885m is a striking fell and whilst overlooked by several big brothers for example  Bowfell is nevertheless a worthwhile climb and forms part of  the great cirque of hills forming the head of Eskdale.
